Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (FDACS)

Report Dated 06/27/98

Bradenton

No flies have been detected through 06-26-98. The total count, since the first fly was found on May 17, is 553 flies. The last fly was trapped on 6-14-98.
The third and final aerial bait treatment took place Thursday evening 6/25, following a weather delay the night before. Treatment began around 10:00 pm and was completed around 3:30 am. Ground treatment in the buffer zones was scheduled for completion today.

Sterile release has continued in Hillsborough, Manatee and Sarasota Counties. I believe we will be releasing sterile flies over the treatment zone in the next day or two.
