Report Dated 07/31/98
Traps: There are 4141 traps deployed in a 207 square mile survey area: 3358 Jackson, 210 McPhail, and 573 yellow panels.
Treatment: Ground crews continue to apply malathion bait to buffer areas. The third aerial treatment for the northern block and the second aerial treatment for the grove areas of the southern block are scheduled to begin tomorrow morning (August 1) at daybreak. Treatment should be completed by 1:00 pm, weather permitting.
Environmental Monitoring: The following results are from samples collected associated with last week's (July 24) treatments:
| Pre | Post | |
| Lake Sebring | BDL (Below Detection Level) | 0.64 ppb |
| Dinner Lake | BDL | 1.9 ppb |
| Little Red | 0.1 - 0.3 ppb* | 0.29 ppb* |
| Denton | BDL | 0.1 - 0.3 ppb* |
| Little Bonnet | BDL | 0.1 - 0.3 ppb* |
| Jackson Canal | BDL | 0.1 - 0.3 ppb* |
| Red Beach Lake | BDL | BDL |
* Between the minimum detection limit (MDL) of 0.1 ppb and the limit of quantitation (PQL) of 0.3 ppb.
All samples were BDL for malaoxon. The MDL for malaoxon is 0.1 ppb
The following results are from drift card samples taken during the same treatment event:
Ground spray exclusion area: Positive (trace) at north and southeast boarder; BDL at northeast and southwest boarder. (This area was treated by ground within five days prior to the aerial treatment. Because of a 5 day treatment interval, it was excluded from the first aerial treatment. It will be included in tomorrow's treatment.)
Health monitoring: Department of Health has received a total of 5 health related calls.
