Report Dated 08/24/98
Fly count: No flies have been detected over the past several days. The total count is 134 since the initial find on July 9th. The last fly was trapped on August 10th.
Treatment: The sixth aerial bait treatment took place on Saturday, August 22nd, without incident. Weather was favorable, wind speeds mild. Treatment concluded around 11:00 am. Flight data looked good regarding cutoffs at sensitive sites.
The seventh treatment is scheduled for next Saturday, Aug 29th, pending favorable weather conditions.
Environmental Monitoring: Pending
Health Monitoring: No report
As operations begin to "wind down" (hopefully, no new flies will be found!), updates on trapping and fly counts are coming in less regularly. Therefore, I'll include this information in subsequent updates as I receive it. Otherwise, you can assume that fly counts are unchanged, and that trapping efforts continue at eradication surveillance levels. As usual, I'll post our monitoring data as soon as it's available (we have several samples pending from the fifth treatment, as well as those that came in from the sixth).
