Mediterranean fruit fly Pest Alert Archives

The Florida Medfly infestation was declared eradicated in October, 1998.

Pest Alert allows faculty at the University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) to deliver timely information on new and reoccurring pest problems. Another important contributor to Pest Alert is the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and its agricultural regulatory unit, the Division of Plant Industry.

The FDACS Medfly WWW site is at http://www.doacs.state.fl.us/~pi/enpp/ento/medfly1.htm

This page archives the Pest Alert information on the Mediterranean fruit fly (Medfly) infestations in Manatee (Bradenton), Lake (Umatilla) and Highlands (Sebring) Counties, Florida. The principle source of this information is the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Although the Medfly has been declared eradicated in Florida, the information on this page will be maintained to provide a record of the infestation.
